Submarine Museum, 27.11.2007

On the waterfront next to the eternal flame is an old S-56 submarine, housing a display on the histoy of submarines in Vladivostok. There are early uniforms, ships' instruments, pictures of the earliest submarine (1865) and the first flotillas (1906). Much of it consists of old photographs, although you can also see some gifts to submarine commanders from foreign hosts including, strangely enough, a ceremonial key to the City of San Diego and (Tom Cruise fans, take note) a US Navy Fighter Weapons School Top Gun shield. The display is open 10:00-18:00 Wednesday to Saturday, although you might persuade them to open up on other days; entry US$1.60.
