Although marginally less interesting than the Submarine Museum, the Soviet Pacific Fleet's first ship, launched on 24 January 1923, is moored just opposite and can also be visited. Display include photographs of early crew members, medals, uniforms and other salty memorabilia. Some of the machinery is preserved down below. If you're interested in buying bits and pieces of naval uniforms (belt buckles, cap badges etc) the sailors who run the museum may be able to help. The ship, beside Korabelnaya naberezhnaya, is open 09:30-17:45, closed Sunday, Mondav and Tuesday. (From "Trans-Siberian Handbook" by Bryn Thomas) |
