Taagepera Castle, built at the same time with Holdre Castle, in 1907-1912, is another attractive manor house in the region. Taagepera Castle, the owners of which were the Stackelbergs, may be regarded one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau manor houses throughout Europe. It was designed by the architect Otto Widau. The castle is fascinating because of its numerous towers. The castle has housed a sanatorium for decades. Taagepera park with a free layout was founded by a German park designer of unknown origin. More than 90 trees and bushes grow in the park. In the northern part of the park there is a high stone wall adorned with two arched gates with high slate roofs.
